Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) are institutions of national importance established through Acts of Parliament, and admission into various undergraduate programs across all the IITs are done through the Joint Entrance Examination Advanced A.K.A JEE Advanced. Through JEE (Advanced), IITs offer admission into undergraduate courses leading to a Bachelor’s, Integrated Master’s, or Bachelor-Master Dual Degree in Engineering, Sciences, or Architecture. Although, the student of Indian nationality who wants to JEE Advanced 2024, needs to write B.E./B.Tech. the paper of JEE Main 2024.

JEE Advanced 2024 is conducted by one of the seven Zonal Coordinating IITs every year on a rotatory basis, under the guidance of the Joint Admission Board. As usual, admission to the Bachelor’s, Integrated Master’s, and Dual Degree programs (entry at the 10+2 level) in all the IITs will be based on the JEE Advanced 2024 performance.
The JEE Advanced 2024 schedule has now been released by IIT Madras. The eligible candidates can fill out the JEE Advanced Application Form from 27th April. You can find more details here: https://jeeadv.ac.in/
JEE Advanced exam is the second step for the candidates who want to pursue their B.E or B.Tech degree course from the ITTs/NITs/IIITs. IIT Madras is the exam conducting body and the exam is conducted online based that is on CBT mode. The top 2,50,000 candidates who qualify for the JEE Main exam are eligible to appear in the JEE Advanced exam. The exam consists of two papers (Paper 1 & 2) of 3 hours each.

On the broader level, there are two forms of eligibility. One is associated with the JEE Main examination and another is admission to the IITs, I.e.
I) Eligibility criteria for appearing in JEE Advanced 2024
II) Eligibility criteria for admission to IITs
However certain norms and policies as per the rules of the Government of India are followed while allotting seats in the IITs, depending on the category and/or nationality of the candidates.
There are five eligibility criteria for appearing in JEE Advanced 2024 that must be followed simultaneously by all the aspirants.
1) Performance in JEE (Main) 2024:
The aspirants who wish to appear in JEE Advanced 2024 should be among the Center 2,50,000 successful students including all different categories in JEE Main 2024 B.E./B.Tech. Paper.
2) Age limit:
Students born on or after October 1, 1999, are eligible for JEE Advanced 2024. Although a relaxation period of five years is given to the candidates of SC, ST, and PwD categories. This means that these students should be born on or after 1st October 1994.
3) The Number of attempts:
The aspirants can appear in JEE Advanced a maximum of twice, that too in two consecutive years.
4) Appearance in Class XII or equivalent exam:
A candidate should have appeared for the Class XII (or equivalent) examination in either 2023 or 2024 for the first time, with compulsory subjects Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.
5) Earlier admission at IITs:
The students who want to appear in JEE Advanced 2024 should not have got admitted to any IIT. No matter whether or not they continued in the enrolled program or took a seat in an IIT by reporting in the past at a reporting center. Also, the students who got admitted in the IIT but their admission got canceled after joining any IIT, are not eligible to appear in JEE Advanced 2024.

The candidates should satisfy at least one of the following two criteria for admission to IITs:
Must have secured at least 75% aggregate marks in the Class XII (or equivalent) Board examination. The aggregate marks for SC, ST, and PwD candidates should be at least 65%. Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics are required as compulsory subjects in Class XII (or equivalent) Board examination in 2023 or 2024.

After the declaration of the JEE Main results, the exam conducting authority for JEE Advanced exam will release the application form and other important notifications for the JEE Advanced exam. IIT Madras will be taking the charge of releasing the application form for the 2024 session and the forms are available after the declaration of the JEE Main 2024 results. The students first have to themselves on the official website and fill the application form for the JEE Advanced 2024. Only top 2.50 lakh aspirants from the JEE Main will be eligible to appear for the JEE Advanced exam.

While filling out the JEE Advanced application form students have to choose 5 exam centers from an IIT zone. 161 cities are selected by the exam body for the JEE Advanced exam centers. It is advised for the JEE Advanced aspirants that they should choose JEE Advanced center very carefully because once the centers are fixed, they cannot be changed.
The schedule for JEE Advanced exam is fixed. After the completion of the application form filling process, the exam conducted body will release the admit card. IIT Madras will release the JEE Advanced Admit Card on the official website jeeadv.ac.in. JEE Advanced admit card will only be released for the candidates who successfully registered for the JEE Advanced 2024 exam before the last date. Candidates are not allowed to enter the exam hall without showing their JEE Advanced Admit Card.
Candidates can download the JEE Advanced 2024 admit card from the official website by logging into the candidate portal by using their login credentials which are application number, date of birth and mobile number.

Similarly, the JEE Advanced AAT (Architecture Aptitude Test) pattern is not fixed. Here is an outline of the exam pattern as seen in previous year exams:
The result for the JEE Advanced exam will be declared by the examination authority who is taking the charge for the particular year. In 2024, IIT Madras is the conducting body and will declare the JEE Advanced 2024 results. The result will be published on the official website. The JEE Advanced comprises of subject-wise marks and total marks secured in the exam. All India Rank (AIR) and category ranks will also be shared on the official website.

The counseling and seat allocation are held under the Join Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA). Candidates who qualify for the JEE Advanced will have to first register for the JoSSA for the further procedure. After registering the candidates have to choose IITs and courses according to their preferences. The seat allotment process is done considering the candidate's rank and their preferences along with the availability of the seats. The counseling procedure will start after the declaration of the result.
The cutoff marks for the entrance exam will be released along with the declaration of the final results. The JEE Advanced cutoff marks are the minimum marks required for the candidates to take participate in the counseling process conducted by JoSSA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority). The students are shortlisted on the basis of their ranks and marks secured in the exam.
